The number of open rigs is increasing and require more and more modern drilling technologies. The multi-directional drilling technologies are now widely used and the request for high performance non-magnetic steels is growing.
These steels rely upon the combination of Chromium, Manganese and Nitrogen 鈥� with a small amount of Nickel to ensure the austenitic micro-structure.
These non mags are used to house the extremely sensitive measuring instruments contained near the drill bit. Deutsche Edelstahlwerke proposes a range of non magnetic steel (Magnadur 501 and Magnadur 601) both certified API 7.
